BWF CERTIFIRE Scheme for Timber doors
Warrington Certification Ltd is the British Woodworking Federation's chosen certification partner. It acts as the independent third party which assesses the various elements of the production process to confirm a consistent quality of manufacture and performance. All products within the BWF-CERTIFIRE Fire Door & Doorset Scheme must be certificated by Warrington Certification Ltd. The scheme is designed to give confidence to specifiers, enforcement authorities and building owners and occupiers. CERTIFIRE is recognised by regulatory authorities both in the UK and overseas.
The BWF-CERTIFIRE scheme is a product of Warrington Certification working with industry to devise and maintain detailed Technical Schedules, based on British or harmonized European standards, which prescribe the performance and design characteristics required of a product in order for it to perform its fire protection function satisfactorily.
CERTIFIRE requirements are based on those for CE Marking but whereas the CE Mark reflects compliance with minimum regulatory requirements, CERTIFIRE's certification standard is set at a higher level to make it a quality mark, designed to enable manufacturers to demonstrate a difference between their products and those satisfying only the minimum requirement to be placed on the market. The main additional requirements for CERTIFIRE over and above attestation for CE Marking are ISO9001: 2000 certification, independent audit testing and a comprehensive field of application document based on carefully chosen product performance tests.
