The WCL Technical Directory of Certificated Fire Products and Services is an innovative directory of fire protection products and installation contractors certificated by Warrington Certification. It also includes information about current fire protection legislation and related standards.
Over 20 parts are planned in all, covering a range of products such as those Certificated against the Requirements of the CPD (i.e. CE marked), from timber and steel doors to Glass and Glazing Systems, Lift landing doors, firestopping and Steelwork protection. Part 2 gives an overview of the voluntary FIRAS certification scheme as it relates to installation contractors of passive fire protection products and systems and sprinkler systems for commercial and industrial and for residential premises. This part of the directory also gives an alphabetic listing of companies certificated under FIRAS to carry out such work.
The Technical Directory has been launched to provide a valid reference point for certificated fire products and services and in response to significant recent changes in fire safety regulations and in Approved Document B of the Building Regulations and Part 1 is intended to help clarify some of the standards to specifiers and other stakeholders.
Since third-party certification for products and installers is now recognised in Approved Document B as a 'stamp of approval', the Directory gives specifiers an at-a-glance reference to certificated fire-safety products as well as contractors.
